We are pleased to share with you the news that CounterPoint Films (CPFilms) has begun the Production Phase of its documentary film project on the life and work of Paramahansa Yogananda. Most recently the film team was in the San Bernardino Mountains filming the activities of campers at the SRF Summer Youth Program, and, following that, in Encinitas to capture an evening of devotional music, inspiration, and spiritual fellowship as part of the Encinitas Temple’s annual India Night, which drew nearly 1,000 members and friends.
Filming the Annual World Convocation
Next on CounterPoint Films’ agenda is the annual SRF World Convocation, which takes place August 2-8 at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
The filmmakers are looking forward to meeting the many devotees who will be coming together from all parts of the world to share in spiritual renewal and fellowship. They will be filming many of the classes, group meditations, and kirtans taking place in the California ballroom, and pilgrimages. (Special arrangements have been made to accommodate those who do not wish to be filmed, which will be announced during the evening class on Sunday, August 2.)
CPFilms is particularly interested in hearing about any inspiring experiences with the SRF teachings that those of you who are attending Convocation might like to share. A special CounterPoint Films mailbox will be set up at the Information Desk in the Santa Anita room, so that you can provide them with your name and contact information in writing and they can be in touch with you.

March 2009
We are pleased to share with you the news of a documentary film project that is about to be launched on the spiritual and humanitarian work of our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, and his society, Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India.
SRF is very grateful that during this time of economic challenges, an independent film company has been funded by two generous individuals (who wish to remain anonymous) to undertake this important project. As was expressed in the recent Voluntary League Newsletter, these are times when our Guru’s spiritual light and inspiration is being sought by an increasing number of people. We are sure this film, which is being made with SRF’s full cooperation, will introduce countless seekers to Paramahansa Yogananda and Self-Realization Fellowship when it is released.
Work on the interview phase of the film project is just beginning. The entire project will take a couple of years to complete. Over the next four to five months, CounterPoint Films – an Academy Award nominee who has been selected to produce the film – will be conducting research which will include information-gathering interviews with SRF monks and nuns, and lay members, as well as film shoots of our locations, services, and activities.
We are confident that this film will have a far-reaching impact on the growing audience of spiritual seekers around the world, and welcome your prayers for the success of this project.
As the project moves forward, we will keep you informed of its development. If you have any questions, please email our Public Affairs office at the Mother Center: laurenl@yogananda-srf.org.
