Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in Berkeley Is Now Open

April 27, 2012

Berkeley TempleWe are very pleased to announce that the Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in Berkeley, California — the temporary location of the former SRF Richmond Temple — is now open for regularly scheduled services and Sunday School programs. The new location is located not far from the University of California campus in Berkeley, convenient for most of the temple members in the East Bay area. It can be easily reached by car or public transportation from cities throughout the greater Bay Area.

Services will be held here until a permanent location for the former Richmond Temple can be located. As you already may know, SRF made the decision to move the Richmond Temple following a thorough investigation of safety issues arising from its location along the North Hayward Fault, and the subsequent counsel from geological experts, and the input of Richmond Temple congregants.

The Berkeley Temple comfortably accommodates 200 congregants in its main chapel. There are also facilities for Sunday School and Teen programs, a large bookroom, a designated space for special events, and meeting space for parents with infants. A schedule of services for the new Berkeley Temple as well as other information is available on the temple’s website at www.berkeleytemple.org.

The new Berkeley Temple of SRF is located at 3201 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley CA 94705, Tel.: (510) 984-0084; www.berkeleytemple.org.
