Rajarsi Janakananda Featured in National Public Radio Program in Kansas City

Realization Fellowship headquarters in Los Angeles, California.

One of Paramahansa Yogananda’s greatest disciples, the American businessman James J. Lynn, who was later to become Rajarsi Janakananda, was the subject of a recent local National Public Radio broadcast on KCUR, Kansas City — “The Insurance Tycoon Who Became a Saint.”

James Lynn, a self-made millionaire who had risen out of poverty, first met his guru in 1932, an event that would forever transform his life. Although financially successful, Mr. Lynn was fraught with nervousness and ill health. Shortly after meeting the great guru, he had a healing experience while with Paramahansaji. “I became aware that I was sitting very still…a deep white light appeared, seeming to fill the entire room. I became a part of that wondrous light. Since that time I have been free from nervousness....Not until my experience of the healing light did I realize that I had found entrance into a spiritual realm previously unknown to me.”

In addition to providing glimpses into the extraordinary life of Rajarsi Janakananda, who became the second president of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) following the passing in 1952 of Paramahansa Yogananda, the KCUR feature includes interviews with SRF members from the Kansas City Meditation Group of SRF, which recently inaugurated its new chapel on Wornall Road in Kansas City, MO.
