KABC’s Eye on L.A. Honors Paramahansa Yogananda
as One of Its “Classic L.A.” Luminaries
In a special segment on “Classic L.A.,” ABC-TV’s
Eye on
L.A. paid homage to the landmarks and luminaries – “from A to Z” – that are
“enduring and endearing” parts of the Los
Angeles landscape. And, for the letter “Y,” the
subject
chosen was Paramahansa Yogananda
– who has introduced millions of seekers to yoga through his spiritual classic,
Autobiography of a Yogi, and who chose Los Angeles for the international
headquarters of his Self-Realization Fellowship in 1925. Pointing out the great
interest in spirituality that is part of Los
Angeles’ culture, the
Eye on L.A. report
stated: “We might not have found that inner peace if it weren’t for Paramahansa
Yogananda…”
The Eye on L.A. segment, which aired on February 11,
features archival stills and footage of Yogananda as well as portions of an
interview with SRF minister Brother Prafullananda at the SRF headquarters on Mt. Washington.
It can be viewed on the KABC website. (The section
about Paramahansaji starts at about 2:29 in the fourth video clip – “U to Z” – on the site.)
