AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda Selected for
Maui Film Festival
May 6, 2014
The Maui Film Festival in Wailea, Hawaii is the latest film festival to select CounterPoint Films’ documentary AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda as part of its lineup. (Read the Festival's review of the film here.) CounterPoint Films worked very closely with Self-Realization Fellowship during the making of the film, drawing from a considerable amount of writings, images, and recordings from SRF’s archives, meeting with direct disciples and members of the SRF monastic community, and visiting Paramahansaji’s places of pilgrimage both in America and India.
Entering its fifteenth year of theatre-under-the-stars, The Maui Film Festival, which attracts thousands of attendees at its outdoor venues, will screen the film on Friday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and more information visit www.mauifilmfestival.com.
We are also pleased to report that the Illuminate Film Festival in Sedona, Arizona — a platform for conscious cinema — has scheduled a second screening of AWAKE for Sunday, June 1, in addition to the screening on Friday, May 30. For more information, please visit www.illuminatefilmfestival.com.
Two screenings of AWAKE are also slated for the Seattle Film Festival (SIFF), one of the most widely attended film festivals in the U.S. The film will be screened on Sunday, May 18 at 6:30pm and again on Monday, May 19 at 7:00pm. For tickets and more information, visit www.siff.net/festival-2014.
