Position Summary:

  • Prepares one meal a day for up to 15 people.
  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, serving and maintaining food in accordance with health and food safety guidelines.
  • Prepares salads, prepares and cooks vegetables, grains, potato side dishes, main dishes and weekly desserts (some items in conjunction with offsite Kitchen).
  • Organizes the refrigerator, supply and storage areas.
  • Wash, sanitize and put away serving equipment, dishes, pots and pans.
  • Responsible for set-up/take down of food serving line, including salad bar, beverages, desserts, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining the kitchen and serving area, keeping the oven, stove, appliances and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Responsible to follow organization’s policies and established processes.
  • Other position-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Physical stamina, including ability to lift up to 25 pounds, work a full shift on one’s feet and maintain physical activity throughout the course of each shift.
  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Basic math skills.
  • A background in food service, food safety, and/or food preparation as well as a working knowledge of vegetarian cooking.
  • Creativity and experience in preparing and presenting a wide variety of foods from small, household-quantity portions to large commercial quantities.
  • Multiple cooking skills required, ability to handle broad range of foods (including salads, entrees, grains, vegetables, baked goods, desserts, special dietary options as needed, etc.).
  • Ability to work harmoniously and safely with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a manner that meets SRF standards.
  • ServSafe Food Handling Certificate required, refresher course every 3 years.
  • High school graduate preferred and/or 5 years of hands on experience.

The hours for the position are Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Local candidates only please. No reimbursement for relocation costs offered for this position.
